Our largest and most luxurious accommodation, the Bridge House is a fully-renovated two-story custom home nestled against the hillside under towering redwoods. A perfect blend of rustic vintage timber construction and modern glass geometry, the House is located in the most private section of our 20-acre property and accessed solely by crossing a 150-foot suspension footbridge over the Big Sur River.
This rustic-modern hideaway has floor-to-ceiling and clerestory windows throughout, inviting the light and majestic scenery indoors. The radiant-heated floors will keep you toasty on the coldest of nights and the large gas fireplace adds cozy ambience.
The ground floor living space is a generous open floor plan consisting of a fully appointed kitchen, seating area, and dining space. A laundry room with washer and dryer is tucked away off the dining room behind a rustic wooden barn door and a small convenient half-bath is located next to the base of the stairs leading to the second story.
The full kitchen has a large stainless-steel refrigerator, 4-burner gas range and oven, large farmhouse sink, ample storage and everything you need to cook and serve meals for up to eight people. The seating area consists of a large corner sectional leather couch, two armchairs, a coffee table, and a large modern statement floor lamp. The dining area next to the gas fireplace has a one-of-a-kind oak tree slab table with eight comfortable mid-century modern-style chairs.
The Bridge House has two bedrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, which each have King beds and private en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. The downstairs bedroom’s custom geometric windows look out on a large old-growth redwood, and the upstairs bedroom features a large picture window with a view of the Big Sur River. The upstairs en-suite bathroom has glass skylights for an indoor/outdoor feeling.
The back deck at the Bridge House has a gas grill with propane provided, a handmade picnic table and benches, and a barrel-shaped dry sauna with a glass door to warm you up after a cooling dip in the Big Sur River, which is just a short walk away. Outside the front porch beneath the trees is your private custom-forged firepit with eight Adirondack chairs, stocked daily with complimentary firewood.
Need a few more beds? Inquire about the Bridge House’s two additional detached sleeping quarters – the Container Cabins – tucked away in the redwoods just on the other side of the firepit. They provide a refined glamping experience with king beds, private decks, and a shared detached bathroom just a few scenic steps away.
